The moments before the ceremony were equally as special to me as the rest of the day. In the morning, there was something so sweet and perfect about the time spent with my mom, sisters, cousins and best friends. When will that ever happen again, you know? I loved introducing everyone to each other and it felt like all of my worlds were colliding in the best way.
The day began at 7AM – Good morning, world! Our venue/hotel offered us a couple large rooms to get ready, so we took them up on it! We were also able to leave our things in the room and lock it when we left, so it made the most sense. I loved having everyone in one room together. We had coffee and bagels and were enjoying each other’s company!
I decided to do my own makeup, and the Posh team did everyone’s hair! After our H/MU was done, we took some group photos on the staircase and then changed into our dresses for the ceremony.
One of my favorite moments of the entire day was the first look with my favorite women. It was so much fun and I loved being able to get excited with them before my wedding! We felt like little school girls giggling and hugging. After the first look and as we were walking back to the room, my mom started singing, ‘Going to the Chapel’ and everyone joined in. We were all singing this song together and in that moment I needed someone to pinch me – IS THIS A DREAM?! My smile was stretching from ear to ear.
We arrived at Holy Spirit and I wanted to make sure I had a first look with my dad. More than anything, I just wanted a moment with my parents. This day was so emotional for me. I knew that my wedding day was going to be filled with memories that I’d always remember and cherish. I’m so grateful to have my parents and still feel so undeserving of their love and support. They both came from nothing – literally nothing, you guys – and they’ve worked their entire lives to bless my sisters and me. I was thankful for those few moments with just them before my wedding so I could hug them and just tell them how much I love them. Grateful tears were pouring.
Bryce and I decided to save our first look for the aisle, so before the ceremony we exchanged letters with each other! I really loved doing this – Bryce did too. It was an abrupt halt in the hustle and bustle before the ceremony to just embrace Bryce’s words and to remember what the day was all about – God, him and me. It made us feel even more giddy to get married! I keep Bryce’s letter to me on my dresser and love to re-read it.
Now, as if the day could get any better, the ceremony was about to begin.
