The prayers leading up to this moment, the faith-talks between Bryce and me, the overwhelming gratefulness for my family – immediate and relative – for being a constant rock in my life – Collectively, all of these small moments strengthened my faith this year and brought me so close to God and refined my love for Him. I wanted my ceremony to be a true sacrament in His eyes. I wanted God to know that this was a commitment to not only Bryce, but to Him.
In our marriage-prep classes we talked about how marriage is a true representation of the Church. The commitment and love we show each other throughout our lives will be a testimony of the love Jesus has for all of us. Never-ending and unconditional. I was so ready to love Bryce and to say I do – through sickness and in health – and I knew I’d never fully succeed if I didn’t have Jesus in the center of our relationship, so why not have Him in the center of this day!
I couldn’t believe this moment was here. Bridesmaid after bridesmaid walked down the aisle, followed by our flower girls and my nephew William – The running-ring bearer. Finally, it was time for my dad and me!
The doors opened, the trumpets sang. Wow – It was happening. Seeing all of the faces I love so deeply there supporting our relationship had my heart leaping. I caught Bryce’s eye at the altar and started picturing our life together. He was so handsome up there in that suit – It felt like a real-life fairy-tale. You and me forever, Bryce. The real adventure begins today. Let’s do this.
When I reached the altar I hugged my mom and dad, took Bryce’s hand and the ceremony began. I loved being able to pray with Bryce at the altar. We were whispering our prayers to each other and I didn’t want those small moments to end. One thing I remember Bryce kept saying was, “You look so beautiful, Becca” and I kept responding, “Thank you. I’ve already cried 100 times today.” Haha! I felt like I had so much to catch him up on and we had only spent the morning apart. That’s when you know your +1 is your best friend.
The ceremony ended – WE’RE MARRIED! What? At this moment everything truly felt like a dream. We kept saying, “Oh my gosh, you’re my husband/wife” to each other. We still say this to each other. It’s such a special feeling.
Bryce and I hugged and chatted with everyone who came, and then we made our way out to our Rolls-Royce! This was the one and only request Bryce made for our wedding – Exiting the ceremony in a vintage car! I loved it! My Aunt Cindy even decorated it with a ‘Just Married’ sign. It was so special.
While Bryce and I were sipping champagne and cheers-ing in our car, our wedding party hopped in the Trolley and we met up with them at our first picture location!
